Clusterfuck.

Blogger, meet 'now playing' IRC script. Both of you, meet Windows Media Player, and now apparently also iTunes.

There's an idea trying to take root in my head right now involving...

1 All of that,
2 Amazon Web Services,
3 Internet radio stations,
4 ...
5 Profit!

...but it's not quite fully-formed yet.

Something based on this, which results in this (which my site displays as this) perhaps?

Oops, just realised that that's the old version. The current version writes an RSS file ;-) I've not documented it yet because I've not had time (and it's a bit complex as it uses a helper app or two to handle Unicode in AppleScript, without which my collection of Cuban music is missing all of its é (e-acute) characters).

Nah.

I'm thinking more along the lines of sniffing live radio for currently-playing info and providing a buy button for the song on now, maybe with a media player plugin which has my Amazon code embedded in it...

It's kind of like the server-side product we made at Userfrenzy 4 years ago (still not duplicated by anything, notably), but distributed and free-as-in-beer for both stations and end-users.

I can feel a renaissance of the old Frenzy technology coming on. But then my old co-conspirator and I have already started work on that, so it'll be no surprise to him...
